Police: Man Reports Drive-By Shooting, Was Actually Self-Inflicted

ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud police determined a 25-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the leg, after initially telling them he was the victim of a drive-by shooting.

Officers responded to the 600 block of Wilson Avenue Southeast at about 7:45 p.m. on Saturday.

The victim said an unknown suspect shot him while he was sitting in his vehicle. A large number of officers then arrived on scene to assist. Later during the investigation officers were told that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted, and was the result of an accidental discharge of a handgun, which is consistent with his injury.

No one else was hurt.

The investigation continues.

The name of the victim has not been released.
