ST. PAUL (AP) -- Police say officers fatally shot an armed man in St. Paul while responding to an early-morning 911 call about shots fired at a home.

St. Paul police spokesman Steve Linders says officers were dispatched to a multi-unit dwelling around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Linders says a male 911 caller reported that someone had fired multiple shots on the second floor of a residence, but that the caller hung up without reporting more information.

Police reports say responding officers encountered a man with a handgun, and that two officers eventually discharged their weapons. Medics were called, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

No details about the man or the two officers were immediately released.

Both officers were wearing activated body cameras. The footage is being turned over to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
