ST. CLOUD -- Police arrested a St. Cloud man on suspicion of assault after an altercation at a downtown St. Cloud bar. Officers were called to McRudy's Pub just before 1:30 this morning.

Police say a 24-year-old Clear Lake man was standing inside the bar watching a group of about six men argue. That's when one of the men allegedly came up to the victim with a beer bottle in one hand and a knife in the other and threatened to "stab him and cut him up".

Police say 30-year-old Edward Forsythe then hit the victim over the head with the beer bottle. He was able to escape and call police.

Police found Forsythe inside the bar and arrested him.  He faces charges of second degree assault and fifth degree assault.
