SARTELL -- Sartell residents are being alerted of a phone scam moving through the area.

The Sartell police department says several residents have been receiving phone calls stating they own money to the IRS, need to go to a store and get money cards, and call the number back with the information.

Police are reminding you this is a scam and the IRS will never call you asking for information.

They also remind you to never give out your social security number or any other personal information over the phone.
