Police: Crookston Man Dies In High-Speed Chase

CROOKSTON (AP) - Police say northwestern Minnesota man has died following a high-speed chase with officers that ended in a fiery crash.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 27-year-old Dominic Herkenhoff of Crookston died Sunday after the pickup truck he was driving crashed into a concrete bridge pillar and caught fire.

Crookston police were sent to do a welfare check on Herkenhoff Sunday evening. He fled in the truck when officers arrived and hit a squad car with the vehicle. Police say he led them on a highway chase before he ran off the road and into the pillar.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
