ST. CLOUD -- About 40 members of various law enforcement departments are competing in the service pistol shooting event today as part of the Can-Am Police-Fire Games.

The officers fire their service pistols at stationary targets to simulate what they might encounter in the course of their job.

The competitors shoot from various stationary positions including standing, kneeling and behind a barricade.  The officers also must shoot with both their strong hand and off-hand to judge their overall skill and accuracy.

The event runs until about mid-afternoon at the St. Cloud Police Department Shooting range across from the Del Tone-Luth shooting range on 12th street Southeast.

The competition is open to the public.
