MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minneapolis police have arrested a suspect in last week's break-in at a Minneapolis mosque.

But authorities say there is no indication that the burglary was a hate crime.

Police arrested the 56-year-old suspect Tuesday night in connection with the break-in at the Umatul Islam Center.

Police reportedly believe the suspect is connected to a rash of recent burglaries along Lake Street in south Minneapolis. Police say the targets appear to be simply unoccupied businesses.

Members of the mosque say surveillance video showed someone breaking into the building late last Wednesday night, smashing windows and doors inside. Equipment and files also were reported missing.

Gov. Mark Dayton visited the mosque on Sunday and condemned the vandalism as un-Minnesotan and un-American.
