ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Police say they arrested a St. Paul woman after a pet store reported she walked off with a $2,000 puppy in her purse.

Reports say the 18-year-old woman was a familiar face at Petland in the Sun Ray shopping center and had even applied for a job there.

So employees didn't watch too closely when she came in Friday. But soon after she left, they noticed something missing: a Yorkie-poo priced at $1,999.99.

The store manager and owner told police they went to the address on her job application and found her in a car with the puppy.

She apologized but told police she felt sorry for the dog and wanted to take it home.

The woman was being held on suspicion of felony theft.
