LITCHFIELD (AP) - Authorities say four people have been arrested after breaking into a central Minnesota church to look for ghosts.

Meeker County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a burglary alarm at Ness Church in rural Litchfield that went off shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday. The sheriff's office says the four people got into the church by breaking several windows and smashed part of a monument.

Two men and a woman from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, were arrested, as was a man from Victoria, Minnesota. The three men were expected to appear in court Tuesday, while the woman was released pending investigation.

Ness Church has long been targeted by vandals. Church board members say ghosts aren't there, but that the site is where the first five victims of the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862 were buried.
