Pinecone Road Detour Starts Monday

SARTELL -- Motorists in Sartell will be dealing with a significant detour starting next week.  Work on Pinecone Road gets underway at the intersection of 2nd Street South starting Monday.

The first phase of the project will create a new roundabout which will close the intersection to traffic from June 15th through July 31st.

Starting at the end of July, crews will begin building a new concrete roadway on Pinecone from the 2nd Street South intersection up to about 500 feet south of 7th Street North. The project also includes the resurfacing of the existing bituminous trail from 2nd Street to 7th Street including pedestrian ramp improvements.

The construction will also add a right turn lane into Bernick’s Arena and Super America, as well as a right-in and right-out at Liberty Savings Bank.

The project is estimated at $3,000,000 and should be completed by August 31st.

Future phases in 2016 and 2017 include reconstructing Pinecone Road farther to the north and also south of Second Street to include roundabouts at Heritage Drive and Scout Drive.
