ST. PAUL (AP) — A chant during an otherwise peaceful Black Lives Matter march outside the Minnesota State Fair is angering some police.

Protesters were captured on camera yelling "pigs in a blanket, fry 'em like bacon" during the Saturday march in St. Paul. The chant was viewed by some law enforcement members as targeting police officers.

St. Paul Police Federation President Dave Titus says it was ignorant and disgusting.

Black Lives Matter St Paul organizer Rashad Turner didn't immediately respond to calls from The Associated Press. In an appearance on CNN Monday, he said no one was promoting violence against police officers.

Turner says the uproar shouldn't focus on the group's rhetoric but instead on police killings of unarmed black men and women.
