Phone Scam Cycling Through Waite Park

WAITE PARK -- Waite Park police are warning you of a new scam.

Chief Dave Bentrud says their department has received a number of calls from residents saying they are getting calls and voice mails stating "there are serious charges pending against you, and police will be called to arrest you within 24 hours."

Bentrud says some of the calls are coming from areas in Texas or other parts of the country and the scammers appear to be targeting the area hard in an effort to scare you and get your personal information.

Police are reminding you to not call the number back and to never give out personal information over the phone.
