FOLEY -- A new phone scam involving people claiming to be from the IRS is affecting the area.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office says they received a complaint Friday from a person who was called by the scammers and told to send money to clear up a warrant for their arrest.

The phone number used in the scam showed up as the non-emergency number of the Benton County Sheriff's Office on the victim's caller ID.

Authorities are reminding you that they do not call people with arrest warrants asking money over the phone and you should never send money or personal information to anybody who calls unexpectedly.
