Pennock Man Is Hurt After Crashing Snowplow Into Train
BROOTEN - A man is hurt after crashing his snowplow into a train early this (Wednesday) morning in Brooten.
The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says the accident happened around 9 a.m. near the 493rd Avenue railway crossing.
Police say 31-year-old Darin Pierce of Pennock was driving his truck, with snowplow attached to the front end, across the railway crossing when he didn't yield to the oncoming train.
Pierce crashed into the Eastbound Canadian Pacific locomotive that was pulling 109 railcars. He was not wearing his seat belt and he was thrown through the windshield.
Pierce was taken to Glacial Ridge Hospital, then transferred to St. Cloud Hospital. He suffered from non-life threatening injuries.
