ST. PAUL -- Pedicab drivers may soon get some help biking up those Minnesota hills.

A bill at the Legislature would allow small motors to be used on the bike-propelled carriages. The House passed the measure unanimously Wednesday. The Senate approved the change last week.

It now heads to Gov. Mark Dayton's desk for a signature. Individual cities would still need to approve the use of motors before they can get attached.

Rep. Carlos Mariani says the motors aren't very large. But they would give bikers a boost when hauling the 100-pound carriages and passengers inside.
