PIPESTONE  (AP) -- The State Patrol says alcohol likely played a role in a crash that killed two people in southwestern Minnesota and critically injured a third.

A car and a sport mini van collided head-on at an intersection in Pipestone County south of Holland Monday night.

The car's driver, 22-year-old Megan Stensgaard of Florence and the van's driver, 60-year-old Curtis Maxwell of Luverne, were killed. Maxwell's wife, Sandra, was seriously injured. She's in critical condition at Avera McKennan
Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
