MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a Twin Cities hospital patient who died after attacking nurses and being handcuffed by police.

The Ramsey County medical examiner identifies the man as 68-year-old Charles Emmett Logan of St. Paul. But the cause and manner of Logan's death remain undetermined, pending additional test results.

Police were called to St. John's Hospital in Maplewood early Sunday on a report that Logan had assaulted four nurses with a metal bar and then ran away.

Officers found Logan three blocks away, holding the bar. A Ramsey County sheriff's deputy fired a Taser at Logan, but that didn't work. Deputies took Logan to the ground and handcuffed him.

Logan began unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal of Apprehension is investigating.
