ST. CLOUD -- The city of St. Cloud is looking to move forward on phase three of the Beaver Island Trail.

Discussions on extending the trail from the River's Edge Convention Center to 5th Avenue North have been underway since 2006.

The Park and Recreation Board will be asked to approved a revised concept design at their meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) night.

The $4-million project would bring the trail alignment along the Mississippi River from the convention center and end at the boat launch by Cathedral High School.

The cost of the project would be paid for using $2-million of local half-cent sales tax monies, $1-million in federal transportation funds and $1-million from River's Edge Convention Center Expansion Construction Fund.

Meetings with the public will also be scheduled in the coming weeks.

Organizers hope to start construction in early 2013.
