Otto D. “Sonny” Ziemer, Rice, 71

A time for sharing memories and gathering will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids for Otto D. “Sonny” Ziemer, age 71, of Rice who died Saturday at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Sonny was born October 20, 1942 in Long Prairie to Norman and Adrene (Baxter) Ziemer. He married Judy Gustin on August 29, 1964 in Minneapolis. Sonny was a Heavy Equipment Operator for the City of St. Cloud, retiring in 2004. Sonny loved horses and music. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing for over 30 years in numerous bands around the area. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, camping, dancing and playing cribbage. Sonny was a hard working, honest, outstanding man!

Survivors include his wife, Judy of Rice; son, Daniel D.(Gail) Ziemer of St. Joseph; daughters, Jodi Burton of Foley, Dina (Joe) Zwilling of Sauk Rapids; sister, Adrene (Phil)Dorau of Finlayson; grandchildren, Derek, Josh, Beth, Alex, Breann and great grandson, Romeo. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Say and brother, Robert Ziemer.
