MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota is expecting another set of twins.

These will be a baby boy and girl for Wild star Zach Parise. He and his wife, Alisha, are expecting in January.

Parise confirmed the news Thursday, the first day of training camp for the team. Parise will not be the first native Twin Cities athlete to have twins. His baseball counterpart, Joe Mauer, welcomed twin girls in July to match the name of his employer, the Twins.

Parise says the revelation was a "shock" at first, but he and his wife believe this is "the best of both worlds" to have one of each gender.

After signing a 13-year, $98 million contract with the Wild last summer, Parise is entering his second season with the team.
