ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - One man has died in a house fire in St. Paul, while eight other people escaped.

The fire was reported in a home in the Frogtown neighborhood between 7:30 and 8 a.m. Sunday. Fire officials say a guest sleeping in the basement was unable to escape.

Eight other people made it out safely.

Zaccard says all the home's smoke detectors were working. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
