One Dead, One Hurt After Car Hits Dump Truck in Stearns County
STEARNS COUNTY - One person is dead and is hurt after a car rear-ended a dump truck in Stearns County.
The State Patrol says the incident happened at 5:40 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of Highway 23 and County Road 12.
A car driven by 23-year-old Jared Haglund of Isle was traveling eastbound on Highway 23, when he hit a dump truck that was stopped yielding to traffic to turn north on County Road 12.
Haglund was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger in the car, 21-year-old Logan Hebeisen of Isle, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with serious injuries. As of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, St. Cloud Hospital says Hebeisen has improved and is in good condition.
The driver of the dump truck, 41-year-old Gary Hemmesch of Richmond, wasn't hurt in the incident.
