Onamia Man Arrested After High Speed Chase Near Pierz

PIERZ – A 46-year-old man from Onamia has been arrested after he allegedly led police on a high speed chase.

The Morrison County Sheriff’s Department says the incident began at about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, when they received a report from a Crow Wing County Deputy about a GMC Yukon, which was apparently involved in a fleeing incident on Friday.

A Morrison County Deputy spotted the suspect vehicle near Pierz at 9:45 a.m. The vehicle took off, collided with another car in Pierz, drove through several yards, and finally came to a stop near Lastrup.  The suspect then ran into a swamp.  A police dog and State Patrol helicopter were used to arrest Lonnie Bellcourt.

There were no injuries.
