ST. JOSEPH - A once popular St. Joseph dance hall is no more.

The old Del-Win Ballroom was built in the early 1980's.  Over the years it changed changed hands, and names -- it was also called The Lighthouse and Trobec's Event Center.  It's sat empty for several years now.

It was built in 1984 amid a lot of controversy.  Residents of the township didn't want it because they were afraid it would attract noise, alcohol use, and fighting.  However, the Township board narrowly approved it on a 2-1 vote.  It operated as the Del-Win until it was sold in 2002.  It had the name the Lighthouse from 2002 until 2005.

The owner Julie Johnson of KJ Development LLC in Sauk Rapids says it's an 18,000 square foot pre-cast building so they were able to take it down in pieces.  She says it's for sale and they have a few people interested in buying it.

They also have the six acres of land on the market.

If you lived in this area in the 80's and 90's you most likely spent some time at the Del-Win.  Tell us your stories, what concerts did you see?  Leave your comments below or on our Facebook page.
