FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (AP) - A 39-year-old Ogema man is charged with felony attempted murder for allegedly beating a woman so badly she was left with 75 to 100 bruises.

Christopher Lee Rogers allegedly hit a woman with a baseball bat, stomped on her head, cut her neck, hit her with a hammer and tried to choke her with an extension cord in Fergus Falls May 20.

Reports say it happened when the woman asked Rogers to hand over keys to the house.

Rogers was charged in Otter Tail County with second-degree attempted murder, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, false imprisonment and theft of a motor vehicle.

Rogers was arrested Thursday. The maximum penalty for the attempted murder charge is 20 years in prison.

Rogers' next court appearance is June 9.
