ST. PAUL- Authorities say a police officer used pepper spray after a fight broke out at Central High School in St. Paul.

Three students were arrested after the fight happened Wednesday morning near the school cafeteria.

In a phone call to parents, Principal Mary Mackbee says the school resource officer used pepper spray to control one of the students.

The school district says five students were involved in the fight. Police say three were arrested on possible riot charges.

The principal says some students knew through social media there may be a fight but did not alert school administrators.

In December, a teacher was badly hurt after intervening in a fight at Central.
