Officer, Son Mourned in Elk River

ELK RIVER (AP) - Hundreds of people filled the high school gym in Elk River to say goodbye to a police officer and his adult son.

Many in the crowd were law enforcement officers who came to pay their respects to Elk River Officer Todd Besser and his 27-year-old son, Blake Besser, Sunday afternoon.

Todd Besser's youngest son, 21-year-old Chris Besser, is accused of shooting the two last weekend.

Todd's brother, Scott Besser, told his nephew, Derrick, that the family would support him in the days ahead as he deals with the loss of his father and brother. And, to the accused shooter, Scott Besser offered the family's love and forgiveness.

Todd Besser was buried at Orono Cemetery. Blake Besser will be buried Monday.
