ST. CLOUD -- A Stearns County Sheriff's Deputy has been cleared of any wrongdoing in the shooting of Marcus Barshaw last October. Deputy Chad Meemken shot Barshaw as he was exiting a Rockville apartment building.  Barshaw allegedly refused to put down his guns and raised the gun toward officer Meemken and other members of the Special Response Team.

Barshaw was wanted in the shooting death of Jeffrey Schutz at his Rockville home just minutes before.

The investigation revealed Meemken was justified in using deadly force against Barshaw because he was shooting to protect himself and his fellow officers from harm and also to capture a suspect who had committed a felony using deadly force.

Barshaw was taken to the hospital and is now jailed awaiting his next hearing which is scheduled for Friday.
