MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Prosecutors have charged a Burnsville man with stealing pain medications from a nursing home where he worked as a nurse.

The Hennepin County Attorney's office charged 56-year-old Daniel Thomas with two counts of theft and two counts of adulterating a substance.

At his first court appearance, Thomas was given the option of conditional release, provided he made his court appearances, remained law-abiding and did not work or volunteer at any medical care facilities.

Thomas remained in jail Friday. His next court appearance is set for June 11.

A phone message left for his defense attorney was not immediately returned Friday.
