MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — More than a dozen people had to be evacuated from a duplex fire in north Minneapolis on New Year's Day.

The fire broke out about 9 a.m. Thursday. Minneapolis Fire Department Chief Todd White says no one was hurt.

White says six people, including three children, were in the duplex unit where the fire started. He says firefighters contained the blaze to the unit, located in the north half of the duplex building.

White says most of the unit is uninhabitable now.

People also were evacuated from the south half of the duplex.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
