Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 PM on Friday, February 20th, 2015 at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Norman G. Pfannenstein, 89, who died Thursday at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud. Rev. Al Stangl will officiate and burial with full military honors will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Waite Park. Friends and relatives may call from 10:30 AM-12:15 PM Friday at the church in St. Cloud. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Norman was born in St. Joseph, MN to John G. and Margaret (Philippi) Pfannenstein. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II, as a German Interpreter and later as a driver at Fort Houston for General Wainright. Norman married Rosa Lee “Rosie” Karrass on September 14, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waite Park. He drove city busses in St. Cloud and then went on to work as a truck driver for Megarry Brothers and Anderson Trucking for over 44 years. After his retirement he drove taxi in St. Cloud. Norm was a member of the Waite Park American Legion #428, a Life Member of VFW #428. He was a strong German who was very hard working and loved his family. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards, especially cribbage, but most importantly spending time with his family who he cared for very much.

He is survived by his children, Cheryl (Keith) Friendshuh of Moundsview, Wendy Pfannenstein of St. Cloud, Robin Anthony of Stillwater; grandchildren, Todd (Angela Giulani) Friendshuh of Cary, NC; Keri (Brent) Furlano of Blaine; Tyler Anthony , USMC of Washington, DC; Nicole Anthony of St. Paul, great grandchildren, Noah, Anna, Aaron, Abi; brothers and sisters, Dorine Russell of St. Joseph, Elaine (Andy) Wojtanowicz of Rice, Barbara Ann Mischler of St. Cloud, Jerome of Sartell, Harry of St. Joseph, Ronald (Marge)of St. Cloud.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rosie on July 3, 1984, brother Melvin and sister, Elsie Brown.
