SARTELL -- Starting the first of the year their will be a new leader running Sartell.

With four years of serving on the Sartell city council Sarah Jane Nicoll will now be running the city as mayor.

She says when she started on the council she was very green, but has learned a lot during her time.

"I've learned so much about developing policy and what the goals should be for the city and I think that experience will help me being the mayor," says Nicoll.

And Joe Perske has also provided some guidance along the way.

"He's kind of handed over the reigns the last couple of months and you can feel he is stepping aside," says Nicoll.

Nicoll says she is excited to get started and says some big things are on the horizon for Sartell.

"We have a few things in need of repair and other transportation projects and also discussing our community center," says Nicoll.

While she says she feels comfortable handling city issues, being the face for the city is a new experience.

"It's a step outside one's comfort zone but I just take it one event at a time," says Nicoll.

Nicoll is excited for the opportunity to help run the city and looks to continue to make Sartell a place to be.
