First Lady Michelle Obama met with some of the people responsiable for the new Food Icon MyPlate that was announced on Thursday, Jun. 2, 2011in the Jefferson Auditorium, U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). This new icon will replace the USDAâs MyPyramid image as the governmentâs primary food group symbol. MyPlate is an easy-to-understand visual cue to help consumers adopt healthy eating habits that are consistent with the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. MyPyramid will remain available to interested health professionals and nutrition educators in a special section of the new website. USDA photo by Lance Cheung.
