UNDATED - Farmers produced the lowest number of turkeys in nearly three decades this year.

Steve Olson is the Executive Director of the Minnesota Turkey Growers Association.  He says that's true for Minnesota producers as well.

The good news is you are not likely to see a rise in turkey prices at the grocery store.

Olson says Minnesota is still the number one turkey-producing state in the U.S., ahead of Arkansas and North Carolina. Our still will produce about 46 million birds this year. Kandiyohi and Stearns are the top two turkey producing counties in Minnesota.
