ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud State University football team kicks off their season at home at Husky stadium tonight (Thursday). And, to get ready for the big game, we broadcast the News @ Noon Show on WJON live from Husky Stadium.

Athletic Director Heather Weems was on the show talking about the importance of the football team, and all the athletic teams, as far as the overall student experience is concerned. And also as a window for the community into the campus atmosphere.

The Athletic Department's Nate Swenson also stopped by to talk about what fans can expect when they come out to the game.  There' s a tailgate party starting at 3:00 p.m. Tonight is a "black out" night with all fans encouraged to come dressed in black.  And all students up to grade 12 in high school get in for free.  The first 700 fans also get a free magnet schedule.

This is the 94th season of Husky football.

Husky stadium opened in 2004.

Tonight's opponent is the University of Sioux Falls.  The Cougars start the season ranked 20th in Division II.

Tonight's game also marks the return of Husky sports to WJON.  We'll begin our pregame show at 5:30 p.m., with the kick off at 6:00 p.m.
