ST. CLOUD - The former lead singer of the band "Foreigner" - Lou Gramm - is headlining this year's 'Takin' It To The Streets' in downtown St. Cloud. The event is this Saturday on both 5th Avenue and 1st Street.

Gramm was on the News Noon Show with Jim Maurice today (Monday). He says the band had a lot of consistent success in the late 1970's, and through the 1980's.

We only had one #1 and this is "I Want To Know What Love Is". We had a number of #2's, and more than a few #3's. I think we had 22 or 23 Top 20 hits.

He says the band was an overnight success.

It absolutely happened very quickly. We started rehearsing in 1976 and started doing demos. Toward the end of '76 we got our recording contract from Atlantic Records, and we recorded the album right away. By the end of the year we were touring and the first album was climbing up the charts.

"Feels Like The First Time" was their first single.

The gates open at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The music begins at 5:30 p.m. with the band "Allman Joy". "Transit Authority" starts at 6:30 p.m. "Collective Unconscious" takes the stage at 7:45 p.m. Lou Gramm starts singing at 9:30 p.m.
