ST. CLOUD - During Prohibition one of the best moonshines in the country - Minnesota 13 - was made right here in Stearns County.

The premiere of a new documentary about the moonshine is showing this Sunday at the Paramount Theatre in downtown St. Cloud.

Julianne O'Connell is with the Stearns History Museum. She says a lot of people are excited to see it.

I've had people call me from all over the central Minnesota area that have a story that's somehow connected to Prohibition. Maybe somewhere in their family they had a still or two. There's a group coming from a nursing home in Melrose coming in on a bus that are really excited about it.

The documentary explores the history of Minnesota 13, an elite moonshine produced by Stearns County farmers, and sold throughout the country, during Prohibition.

She says the movie is based on a popular book that came out a few years ago.

Minnesota 13 by Elaine Davis, who passed away last summer. She was a St. Cloud State history professor. Her book was extremely popular, and now its been made into this documentary.

"Minnesota 13: From Grain To Glass" is showing at noon and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets are $10, with limited seats available for both shows.
