New Traffic Warning System to Go Live This Week in St. Joseph

ST. JOSEPH -- A new traffic alert system at what's become a deadly intersection in St. Joseph goes live this week.

The Stearns County Highway Department is testing the new Rural Intersection Conflict Warning System today (Monday).

A number of serious and fatal crashes at the intersection of Stearns County Road 2 and Minnesota Street prompted the new warning system.

The system will use detection, signage and flashing lights to get the driver's attention and warn them of approaching traffic.

The project was mostly funded through a federal Highway Safety Improvement Program grant.
