ST. CLOUD - New state-of-the-art parking meters are coming to a lot in downtown St. Cloud.

The meters will be put into the parking lot in front of the Stearns County Administration Center. They will replace 31 meters and are expected to be installed later this month.

The electronic meters will allow you to pay with either coins or a credit/debit card. City officials are hoping to replace existing meters in the city, which are 40 years old and are starting to fail. The meters are being installed as a pilot project by the city. After one year, the meters will be checked for functionality, customer response and performance.

The cost to park will stay the same at 50 cents an hour.
