New Service Gets You, Your Vehicle Home Safely [AUDIO]

ST. CLOUD - There's a now a new way to get a safe ride home from the bar -- and get your car home at the same time.

The company My Ride is a designated driver service operating in the St. Cloud metro area.

When you call for a ride, a driver will show-up on a collapsible scooter, he throws his scooter in your trunk, drives you and your vehicle home, then rides off to the next pick-up.

Co-Owner Nate Landwehr says it's more convenient than a traditional taxi ride home.

Landwehr says they're operating within a 10-mile radius of downtown St. Cloud.

They've picking-up fares in Sauk Rapids, Sartell and Waite Park for three weeks already, and this week they added St. Cloud.

Co-owner Pete Rengel says, if you know your going out, you can also plan ahead and make a reservation.

Rengel says all of their drivers have completed full background checks by the city.  And the company is fully insured.  They have three drivers right now, and are adding more.  They operate Tuesday through Saturday evenings.

As for what they're going to do when the weather gets cold, Landwehr and Rengel say they'll continue to run the scooters as often as they can on good days.  During the days of bad weather, they'll use chase vehicles.
