New Amber Alert Funds Mark Wetterling Abduction Anniversary
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - A group of motorcycle enthusiasts is marking the anniversary of Jacob Wetterling's abduction with an $18,000 donation to Minnesota's Amber Alert program.
The group has presented a check to Jacob's mother, Patty Wetterling, and to officials with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
The group of bikers has been raising money for Amber Alert since 2003, and has raised over $100,000 for the program so far.
Amber Alert is run entirely on donations.
Saturday marks 22 years since Jacob was abducted from a familiar road near his house in St. Joseph. He was riding his bicycle with his brother and a friend when he was taken. He hasn't been seen since and there have been no arrests in the case.
He was just 11 years old.
