There will be a gathering of family and friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud for Neil M. Andersen, 64 of St. Cloud who passed away in St. Cloud on Friday, January 29, 2016. Burial will be with full military honors at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls at a later date.

Neil Martin Andersen was born on February 21, 1951 on Barksdale Air Force Base, Bossier Parish, Louisiana to the late Clarence Fred and Joyce Lelia (Hogue) Andersen. He grew up in South Dakota and graduated from high school in Aberdeen. Neil attended Colorado Mountain College and studied photography. He served his country in the United States Army at Fort Carson, CO and later attended St. Cloud State University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies. Neil worked as the University’s photographer for over 19 years. He married Kathleen Fischer at Lake George in St. Cloud. Neil was a natural storyteller and had an amazing talent in creative writing, photography, art and collecting antiques. He volunteered much of his time at Camp Ripley in Little Falls and at the Whitney Senior Center in St. Cloud. Neil was generous with his time with his family and grandchildren. He was a very kind and gentle man who will always be remembered.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kathleen Fischer of St. Cloud; step sons, John (Lori) Fischer of Plymouth and Mark Fischer of Golden Valley and grandchildren, Jackson, Calvin and Wynter Fischer.
