MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Animal Humane Society says agents have taken 95 dogs from a Minnesota couple that was apparently hoarding them in unsanitary conditions.

The agency says the dogs were kept at three locations - in Maplewood, Stacy and Sandstone. The Humane Society is helping Maplewood police build a criminal case against the husband and wife.

Humane Society agent Wade Hanson tells reporters it seems the couple had a breeding business, but one of the owners had a hard time selling the animals.

Agents had been investigating since August.

The couple surrendered 53 dogs to the Humane Society in February. But on Wednesday, agents seized 42 more dogs from the Maplewood home. The couple was allowed to keep two dogs.
