National Hockey Center Renovation Being Reviewed By Attorney General [AUDIO]

ST. CLOUD — The plan to renovate the National Hockey Center has hit a road block.
St. Cloud State University President Earl Potter says the I-R-S brought some concerns about the project to the Minnesota Attorney General.

Potter says legal experts use a complicated formula to answer the question, “Is there too much private investment in the project?”. He says they’re in the process of working through the issue, and still hope to move ahead with the improvements by this summer.
SCSU hired a marketing firm last year to sell the naming rights to the building. That announcement was suppose to come last October, but that still has not happened.
They’re also still working on raising over $12 million in private donations.
The state legislature approved $6.5 million in bonding money during the 2008 session.
