MINNEAPOLIS - Authorities have released the name of a bicyclist who was struck and killed by a light-rail train in south Minneapolis.

The Hennepin County medical examiner's office Saturday identified the victim as 29-year-old Jason McCormick of Minneapolis.

McCormick died of multiple blunt force injures after he collided with a Blue Line train Friday morning. His death was ruled accidental.

Metro Transit spokesman Howie Padilla says the bicyclist turned onto the tracks. Fire crews had to extricate him from underneath a train car.

It was the second day in a row that a person had been killed by a light-rail train in the Twin Cities. On Thursday, a 67-year-old woman was struck and killed by a Green Line train in St. Paul when she ran across the tracks at a pedestrian crossing.
