Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud for Myrtle L. Stevens, age 90, who passed away Sunday at Country Manor. Pastor Dee Pederson will officiate and burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. TODAY Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Myrtle Lillian Westheim was born May 19, 1924 to Nicoloi and Martha (Jacobson) Westheim in Willmar, MN. She attended Country School in Eagle Lake, later graduating from Apollo High School in St. Cloud. On November 15, 1945 she married Sherman C. Stevens at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Willmar until 1960 before relocating to St. Cloud. Myrtle was a member at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud where she belonged to the Altar Guild and the Anna Circle. She was also a member of the Red Hats. Myrtle was the City of St. Cloud Hostess (Welcome Wagon) visiting new people that moved into St. Cloud in the 1960’s. She worked at Ivan’s in the Park in Waite Park as well as Wide Awake Cleaners in St. Cloud before retiring at the age of 72. Myrtle was an avid reader of books and later a Kindle when her eyesight was failing. She loved square dancing and playing bridge. Myrtle’s family was the joy of her life, especially her great grandchildren, they held a very special place in her heart.

Myrtle is survived by her children, Marcia (Ken) Carlson of St. Cloud, Renee (Bob) Jansky of Sartell, Michael (Leesa) Stevens of Sedona, AZ, Ricky (Laurie) Stevens of Cold Spring; grandchildren, Ken Carlson, Jr. of Sartell, Scott Carlson of Tampa, FL, Jessica Lockhart of Redding, CA, Michelle Chapman of San Diego, CA, Ben Jansky of Sartell, Sarah Lucas of Sauk Rapids; 14 great grandchildren with one on the way; sister, Ruth (John) Malik of Ridgecrest, CA; sisters- in- law, Inora Westheim of Willmar, Joyce Westheim of Traverse City, MI; and many wonderful friends at Country Manor.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sherman on January 23, 1998; brothers, John and Norman Westheim; sister, Marie Johnson and one grandson.

A special thank you to the caregivers at Country Manor and the St. Croix Hospice for taking such great care of Myrtle.
