Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 30th, at 2:00 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eden Valley for Myrtle L. Ahrens, age 100, of Paynesville, who died on Wednesday at the Hilltop Health Care Center in Watkins. Rev. Bryan Hopfensperger will officiate. Burial will be in the Paynesville Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday after 11:30 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eden Valley. Funeral arrangements are being made with the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville.

Myrtle was born August 8th, 1914 in Lakefield, MN to Louis and Agnes (Bamburg) Roesner. She married Raymond Ahrens on June 28th, 1936 in Lakefield. They farmed near Lakefield and then in 1956 they moved to a farm near Paynesville. Together, they farmed for many years. She moved to her home in Paynesville in 1964. Myrtle was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eden Valley.

Her hobbies included crocheting, gardening, embroidery, traveling and volunteering. She taught Sunday school for many years. She will be remembered for her extensive involvement with her family. They all meant the world to her and she will be missed by all.

Survivors include children, Roger Ahrens, Paynesville, Jerrine Posey (Jim) Paynesville, Sheryl Schmiginsky, Paynesville, and Rhonda Wendlandt, Paynesville, daughter-in-law, Donna Ahrens, Paynesville, 9 grandchildren, Jay , Josh and Justine Posey, Tom and Teri Ahrens, Doug Schmiginsky, Denise Landsteiner, Aaron and Christopher Wendlandt, 13 great-grandchildren, brother and sisters, Wilda Tallman, Cornell, WI, Robert Roesner, Redding, CA and Reva Kramer, Long Beach, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, April 8th, 1964, son Lew, February 21st, 2013, son-in-law, Robert Wendlandt, December 3, 2012 and 12 brothers and sisters.

Memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eden Valley.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Hilltop Health Care Center in Watkins for the excellent care given their mother.
