Myrlain L. Eldred, Sartell, 82

 

August 26, 1931 – July 24, 2014

 

Myrlain EldredFuneral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church for Myrlain L. Eldred, age 82, of Sartell who passed away on Thursday at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home. Rev. Aaron Bell will officiate and burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to services on Monday at the church.

Myrlain was born August 26, 1931 to Walter and Elsie (Ostreich) Narr in Upsala. On September 15, 1962 she married Kenneth “Luke” Eldred at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. Myrlain worked as a cook in Stewart Hall for the students and staff at St. Cloud State University since 1975. She also worked at the Flat Iron Bar as a bartender. Myrlain later returned to SCSU preparing meals in the Garvey Commons before retiring in 1997. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. In her retirement Myrlain enjoyed cooking, her kitchen was her domain. When she wasn’t cooking she enjoyed fishing. Myrlain was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Myrlain is survived by her children, Kenneth (Ali) Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Kim (Gary) Philippi of Sartell; and three grandchildren, Kyle Eldred, Brandon and Ashley Philippi. She is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Kenneth on Sept. 21, 1995; sister, Luvern Ernst in 1983.

A special thank you to everyone on staff at the St. Cloud Hospital Hospice and Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids for the care of Myrlain.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
