RAMSEY, Minn. (AP) - Authorities believe the deaths of a married couple in Ramsey were a murder-suicide.

The Anoka County sheriff's office says police were sent late Friday night to a home where dispatchers could hear screaming and crying.

Authorities say a "violent confrontation" was happening in the home, and the husband was the aggressor.

The wife - identified as 30-year-old Courtney Monson - sought refuge in a basement room with three of her four children. Witnesses say 41-year-old Bryce Monson shot his wife multiple times with a handgun, and then shot himself. Officers found both the man and woman dead.

The four children range in age from 2 to 12. Family members are caring for the children.
