Mother’s Boyfriend Held in Death of Toddler in Maplewood

MAPLEWOOD (AP) - Police are holding the boyfriend of a woman whose toddler died in Ramsey County.

The 18-month-old girl was found unresponsive at a residence in Maplewood Thursday. Police say the child had bruises on her face and body. Resuscitation efforts failed. A 35-year-old man who police say is the mother's boyfriend was taken into custody. He is not the child's father.

An autopsy is expected to be done Friday to determine a cause of death.
